What’s Important Now: A New Chapter Begins
In January of last year, I shared Power Acronym 24: W.I.N.
Power Acronym 24: W.I.N.
This is the most important question to ask yourself if you're looking to live and work on purpose:
Most often credited to Olympian swimmer Michael Phelps, it’s a question that continues to shape how I approach each day:
What’s Important Now?
As we move through the second half of 2025, I’ve been reflecting on the goals I set at the start of the year:
Be a top performer at Project One Roofing
Run an ultramarathon
Go on several mini-adventures with Chelsey
Engage with my community in a greater capacity
I’m on track with most of them but what I’ve realized is that W.I.N. isn’t about setting goals once a year or even once a month. It’s about revisiting that question daily.
And lately, my answer has changed.
I recently accepted a new role as a Chapter Launch Coach for the Northeast Texas region of BNI (Business Network International)—and I want to share why that matters to me, and what it means moving forward.
If you didn’t already know, I’ve been serving as President of the World’s Richest BNI, a Kilgore-based chapter that officially launched in March. Watching a room full of East Texas professionals support, refer, and grow with each other has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
Funny enough, this opportunity to coach came after a one-to-one conversation with Jonathan Goza, a fellow World’s Richest BNI member and business coach at Blinker Fluid Coaching. He asked me what I’d pursue if I could do anything and be successful at it.
To my surprise, I answered: “Coaching.”
Not because I don’t love roofing—I absolutely do. But because I’ve always enjoyed helping people grow their business, make strategic connections, and show up more intentionally in their communities.
Just a couple of weeks later, Courtney Gill, BNI area director and owner of Gill Electric, reached out and asked if I’d be interested in becoming a Chapter Launch Coach.
After some reflection, I said yes.
Because here’s the truth: I love East Texas. I believe in the people and the businesses that make East Texas great. And I know that with the right systems, structure, and support, many more professionals can benefit from what BNI has to offer.
I also feel like it fits the skillset I’ve developed over the past several years and playing a small part in other’s business success is very fulfilling.
With that in mind, I’ve made a hard call.
Rooftop Almanac is on pause.
Writing it wasn’t too time-consuming, but to make it effective, I needed to promote it daily on social media. And that effort was starting to pull me away from other content I’m more excited to share: content that helps others become better networkers, connectors, and community builders.
So what’s important now?
Helping homeowners with their roofing needs
Supporting the growth of World’s Richest BNI
Coaching new chapters across East Texas
Continuing to Encourage, Enrich, and Empower people, no matter the title or platform
I’m still a proud Project Manager at Project One Roofing, and I’m still here to serve my community. But now, I’m also helping others grow through intentional networking that works.
So let me turn the question back to you:
What’s Important Now for you?
Is it growing your business? Building a better network?
Or finally implementing a referral system that actually works?
If that’s the case, let’s talk.
I’d love to help however I can.
Text or call me at 903-952-7255—or better yet, come visit World’s Richest BNI on Wednesday at 9:30AM. We meet at the Kilgore Lion’s Club location.
August 6th (next week) is our first official Visitors Day, and we’re starting that meeting at 9:00AM.
