I killed my website today.
That act is a white flag of surrender, an admission that I didn’t really need to pay a monthly subscription for something I rarely used. It had to be done.
I originally created it in hopes that it would become a one stop shop for all the content I create on a regular basis, as well as a place to post blog posts and sell my book of poetry.
But I never could get my website to look and operate how I wanted it to. Nor did I have the time to sink into figuring it out. And ideas for blog posts quickly turned into “needing” to be thousands and thousands of words before I felt it was exactly right, making it a laborious affair.
So I am coming to terms with the fact that I’m a better poet and podcaster, and will instead share my ideas through art, social media or audio/video from here on out.
That being said, I needed to find a place to act as a “central hub” for my content, and came across Substack.
This service helps writers (or anyone, really) create an email newsletter that they can eventually opt to monetize with paid content for subscribers. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get to the point where I can provide premium content you’d want to pay for, but that option is available if we ever get to that bridge and want to cross it. For now, it’s free.
While it’s sort of like a blog, I personally don’t feel the pressure to create new blog posts and can treat it more like an email list to friends interested in keeping up with what I’m creating.
Now that you have some context, I hope you decide to check out the “Strong your Com” section, which I copied from my Substack “about” page. That will give you a good amount of info and will help you decide whether or not the Strong Com Newsletter is for you.
I hope to write to you again soon,
Aaron
Strong your Com
About six years ago I made the decision to learn everything I could about sales, marketing, social media and building a brand and started to apply it to the best of my ability.
Over time I’ve been fortunate to make it into my career, and now get to help people with each of these disciplines in my role with GroupM7. I’m fortunate to have been able to create a career getting paid for what I love to do.
I enjoy it so much that even when I’m not “working” I’m connecting with individuals who have D.R.I.V.E., an acronym and mindset I’ve cultivated to bring me where I am today.
When people are Dedicated to their mission, build positive Relationships, have a high degree of Integrity, work with Volition and do it all with Enthusiasm, success isn’t far from them.
Using these principles as a foundation, I started the Strong Com Podcast as a way to dig into them at a deeper level and help others have DRIVE in their own life.
While mindset is imperative, it’s only the beginning. “Com” is the root word that means “together, in common” and serves as the flag in the solid ground the D.R.I.V.E. principles provide.
The idea is that strong communication and community builds stronger company, whether that’s the company you’re creating or the company that you keep.
My mission is to encourage, enrich, and empower you to become a better communicator and community builder. To help you create the life and career you want by sharing what I’ve learned through personal experience and following the positive example others are setting.
