Happy June 1st.
It's the start of the 6th month of the year which means we're close to halfway done with 2024.
What were your goals at the beginning of the year?
Do they still matter to you today?
If not, why not?
Maybe they weren't the right goals.
Maybe something has changed.
But that doesn't mean goals don't matter.
It's just time for new ones.
Every day is a new day, so the day on the calendar doesn't matter as much as the commitment to make it matter does.

Give direction
It's one thing to have a dream or an idea, but all things are created twice. That's what Stephen Covey says in his classic 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
The mental conceptualization and visualization is the first creation.
The second is physical, actual creation.
Give your dream direction by taking your idea and starting to make it manifest.
A step as small as putting pen to paper or reverse engineering - start with the end result and plan the steps backwards from there until you get to the action you could take today to start making progress.
Offer accountability
That physical creation then becomes a piece of accountability. Have you executed on the next step yet?
Have you shared your dream with someone else?
Place your goal in front of you daily and allow yourself to be shaped by it.
Let it change you for the better.
Achieve more
If you dream more you achieve more.
Do not allow limiting beliefs to govern your journey of professional development.
There have been many times I've only wanted one outcome out of a goal only to discover that the achievement of that goal actually led to many things becoming greater.
Let excellence flow abundantly.
Learn more:
The pursuit of your goals will stretch you.
Growth is not without some pain.
Being out of your comfort zone and failing along the way will teach you more than any book, course, or newsletter.
That's good.
You will either win or learn and learning is winning because you know exactly what to work on.
Serve as motivation:
Here's an example:
The idea of running a second Spartan race with my brother was fun to have.
But it wasn't until the commitment to buy the ticket and plan the trip did it truly motivate me to start training more intentionally.
My brother and I texted each other regularly as the date came closer.
I visualized what it would be like to run, climb, and carry through each obstacle.
The goal motivated me to do the right things TODAY.
Now that you know why goals matter…
What's your goal?
