It's fun to learn the science behind experiences I've had.
Do you ever write things down so you won't forget them?
Sometimes I will write something down and never look at the paper I wrote it down on again.
It's like I wrote it on my mind.
Inside myself.
Turns out that is the Reticular Activating System at work.
"Writing is another powerful way to sharpen the mental saw. Keeping a journal of our thoughts, experiences, insights, and learnings promotes mental clarity, exactness, and context."
Stephen R. Covey

Reticular
Activating
System
The reticular activating system (RAS) is a network of neurons located in the brainstem that plays a crucial role in regulating wakefulness, arousal, and attention.
The RAS is involved in filtering out unnecessary information and focusing attention on important stimuli.
You activate yours when writing things down.
The act of putting pen to paper focuses your attention, actively process the information, and make it concrete in space.
The word now has weight.
Write out the virtues you want to embody.
The goals you have for yourself.
Dream big.
Now activate.
