I originally wrote J.J.J. in August of 2022.
It’s fun to revisit ideas of the past—touchstones of another time.
I wrote many words to finally arrive at a central idea which I'm happy to revisit today.
There was I time when I was fearful about returning to “old” ideas.
But now I realize that it's a powerful way to grow, just as creating something “new” is.
After all, the virtues like the ones I'm exploring in this alphabetical trigram collection of Power Acronyms (that I've also named Letters of Leadership 😅) are timeless.
As such, I'm changing and they stay the same.
I'll continue finding new experiences and information that shift my understanding of each word.
As a leader, I hope that in the face of difficult judgments and moments of decision, I possess the courage and joy that can be found in the smallest movement, even if it doesn’t always feel like forward progress.
We either win or we learn and learning is winning so we win either way!
Power Acronym 150: J.J.J.
Judgment
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear."
Ambrose Redmoon
Jump
“A bit of advice given to a young Native American at the time of his initiation: 'As you go the way of life, you will see a great chasm. Jump. It is not as wide as you think."
Joseph Campbell
Joy
“Your only joy, your only rest: let it be to pass from one action performed in the service of the community to another action performed for the service of the community, together with the remembrance of God."
Marcus Aurelius
Today’s Power Acronym is the 150th, which seems like a special number.
But it’s also just another day in the grand scheme of my target of 366, with 151 arriving tomorrow.
