“Anything worth doing is worth doing every day”. - Grant Cardone
I’ve thought about the quote above many times since I first heard Grant say it.
It causes me to evaluate the things that I do every day and ask myself if they truly are worth doing.
Does this thing move me closer to being and becoming the person I want to be, or further away?
If it isn’t, why am I doing it?
Whether something is worth doing or not is dependent on your individual goals.
As we enter April and the 2nd quarter of 2024, I’m evaluating what’s working and what needs work and committing to today’s Power Acronym.
Power Acronym 92: S.D.S.
Suck Don’t Skip.
Also known as “Habit Suicide” this concept is based on the fact that we are more likely to stop behaviors the less often we do them.
The idea is that “It’s ok to suck, not ok to skip”.
I’m not good at training every other day.
I’ve found that if I’m going to have a training schedule, I’m best if I’m showing up every day. It’s easier to do when it becomes a non-negotiable for me.
Does that mean I spend 2 hours throwing weight around or logging long miles every day?
No.
I still push myself, but with the mind that I will be back tomorrow so I keep training to a point that I can recover before going again the next day.
Some days, if my schedule is packed or I need some extra recovery, I suck. I don’t skip.
No matter what’s going on, there is time and energy for 50 push-ups and 50 squats.
I can go to the backyard and carry the kettlebell around, or move some dumbells.
It’s a way for me to tell my body that the mind is still the boss.
It’s a way for the body to tell the mind that it can endure the discomfort.
Moving into this second quarter of 2024, I’m examining my habits, routines, and goals.
What are the daily actions I can take that would give me forward progress?
What’s the “suck” version that I can commit to every day so I can keep my streak alive?
Winning matters!
