Some people think mental imagery, meditation and personal development doesn't work.
Then watch athletes win super bowls, hit grand slams, shoot perfect shots and knock fighters out.
Today’s Power Acronym is a framework that mental performance coach Brian Cain does with the professional athletes he coaches.
I actually watched him coach someone through it on a coaching call in the Heroic community I'm part of.

BREATHING
Body scan and relaxation.
The mind-body connection is critical to pay attention to. I ignored this for a long time.
In high school, I was overweight, unathletic, and uninterested in physical activity. I didn't want to look bad, but I also didn't see the point in being physically fit.
Years later when I started experiencing sciatic pain in my leg after long hours at a desk, I realized I was too young to have chronic physical issues.
Once I started to exercise more regularly I realized how my physiology drove my psychology.
Now I'm dialing it in even more. Because the stronger I am, the more confident I feel in all aspects of my life.
Peak performance begins with this mind-body connection.
Breath control focuses our attention.
The ‘body can' cultivates awareness of where we are in space, acknowledging the subtle changes in how we may feel based on our sleep, movement, diet, etc.
Get present. Keep your feet on the ground.
Breathe.
AFFIRMATION
“Murphy is always hanging around somewhere”.
A trucking company owner said this on the job site as we moved from place to place, surveying the oversized loads weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds we were working together to move.
He was referring to Murphy’s Law, the idea that “in any field or endeavor, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong”.
There's a time and place to anticipate problems, but worrying on replay will exhaust you.
Affirmations are the answer.
Simple, easy to remember and potent, affirmations should fuel your ambition and keep your mind focused on the ideal.
I will affirm virtues I want to embody.
“I am wise. I am disciplined. I am loving. I am courageous. I am grateful. I am hopeful.”
I'll use my personal identities to affirm who I want to be in the world.
“I have tunnel vision focused energy.”
“I am a serving coach and trophy husband.”
How would you affirm yourself?
LOOK BACK & RECALL
Remember your wins.
Reach into your memory bank and picture in your mind the moments of victory.
Count your wins. Savor the good times.
Watch them in slow motion.
Remember who you were with.
If you're going to look in past, go to the highlight reel and inventory what brought you there.
LOOK FORWARD & MENTAL REHEARSAL
Now it's time to enter the arena.
What do you want?
Now what must be done?
Think like a Champion 🏆
