Power Acronym 73 is a double stack of M's to think with in our pursuit of Mastery.
Robert Greene says this in his book of the same name:
"Become who you are by learning who you are"
Power Acronym 74: M.M.M.
Dr. Keith Johnson says there are three ways to learn:
MISTAKES
Failure is part of the process. Just because we’re older doesn’t mean we’ll have the right answer all the time. Part of maturity is the ability to recognize a mistake and do what’s necessary to do better next time.
MENTOR
When I figured out how to apply wisdom, insights, and advice from personal development books, philosophy, and great thinkers, my life changed for the better. I write to lock in what I want to integrate into my life more deeply and to help others.
MONEY
Money won’t buy happiness but it will buy access to the things and experiences that can lead to happiness. Happiness is not wholeness though. But that’s a different conversation.
Using money to learn is about investing in yourself today in ways that will benefit you tomorrow.
The other M.M.M. is Brandon Dawson’s framework for scale:
MODEL
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Your business idea, relationship, and vision you have for your life have been done before. The difference is YOU.
MIMIC
It’s one thing to be inspired by a model, it’s another thing to do things like the model. Professional athletes, song writers, actors, and business people speak about following in the footsteps of the great ones before them. How? By doing the same things they did.
MASTERY
Once the basics are down, build on top of them. Say it your own way. Show your own style. The NFL Pro Bowl and the NBA All-Star game are designed to showcase the athlete’s mastery of their profession.
