When I googled to see who wrote “Necessity is the mother of invention”, I found that Plato said “Our need will be the creator” in his famous dialogue, Republic.
History has slowly shaped Plato’s observance into today’s common parlance.
I remember when I started in the car business at 24 feeling scared and at a loss for how I would get anyone to buy a car from me.
Minimal life experience, no knowledge of vehicle mechanics, one pair of dress pants with holes in the pockets, and a commission-only pay plan.
It was on the showroom floor that I realized how important it was to start taking more risks more often if I was going to make it.
I needed to make sales, so I created an environment for myself where all I did was learn, practice, and create content that could lead to a sale or two.
Each cold call to someone in the database, each attempt to advance a sale, and each piece of content was a certain amount of risk.
What if they hang up? What if what I say stops the sale? What if the content doesn’t work?
Many things did not work, but enough of them did.
I didn't stay in the industry but it did help me develop transferrable skills that I continue to build on each day.

Because my start in the car business is a story about Taking Risks and Prospering.
My wife recently started a new career in roofing sales.
She took the risk of going from the restaurant industry to a completely new industry with zero experience and is experiencing quick success.
It’s not a guarantee that we will experience prospering when we decide to take a risk but if we never take a risk, we will never know what could have happened!
Don’t fall into a trap of indifference and inaction.
