Today was my first experience with a cold plunge.
I've listened to Wim Hof and other experts extol the benefits of cold exposure and the practice has only increased in popularity and accessibility over time.
When I entered the 55 degree temperature, I focused on my breathing, and nothing else. After 3 minutes I exited and felt alert and wholly unbothered by the Texas heat.
Power Acronym 188: I.C.E.
Intent Cold Exhale
I thought it would be fun to shape the best practices Wim Hof shares in his method into a Power Acronym.
Cold exposure has so much to do with what your mind goes, it's important to set intentions early. I decided on a finish line I thought might be challenging, and committed to hitting it.
It's also helpful to keep the benefits of the cold in mind:
Improved circulation
Enhanced immune function
Increased metabolism
Reduced inflammation
Mental toughness
Improved mood and mental health
Enhanced sleep quality
Skin health
Exhale serves as a reminder that breath control is the way through experiencing colder temperatures for longer.
The summer is heating up.
