First day?
When I worked as a restaurant manager that was a subtle language elbow we used to jab into the ribs of our coworkers ear drums when they made a silly mistake.
The owners response to this quip?
“It's always my first day”.
I haven't forgot it and work to practice this principle of walking into each year, month, week, day, hour, minute, NOW with this in mind.
When every day is day 1 you understand perfection is a pipe dream, there's always something to learn, results won’t come easy and there is plenty of work left to complete.
This New Years Day I'm recommitting to living with:
Wisdom - knowing the Ultimate game and playing it well
Self Mastery - cultivating structural, reactive and expansive discipline
Love - being present, engages, and encouraging
Courage - a willingness to act in the presence of fear
Gratitude - appreciating all the blessings I have in my life
Hope - having an aspiring goal, agency, and pathways
Curiosity - being aware of what works and what needs work
Zest - dominating my fundamentals so that I have heroic energy
That's a look at the virtues within my Heroic Protocol I started learning and practicing since I started the Heroic Coach program in March of last year.
I'm big on personal development and have been impressed by the impact this 300 day program has had on my life.
They also just released a 2023 “Greatest Year Ever” video + workbook + meditation which serves as an excellent primer and jump start for the New Year if you're interested in starting your new year with some fresh ideas. 🧠🫀🔥💡
What's on your calendar today?
Chelsey and I are celebrating New Years Day with the traditional prosperity meal of home cooked black eyed peas and cabbage. 💵🥬
We are also celebrating our new daily calendar!
This will be our 3rd year to have a daily calendar so it's become sort of a tradition for us to get one each year.
2021 was Jen Sincero's You are a Badass
2022 was Lori Deschene's Tiny Buddha
And 2023 is Focus Pocus by Kimothy Joy
Today's affirmation is:
This day is a gift.
This day is magic.
Let's enter this year with this truth at the front of our minds, words, and actions.
Not just today, but every day.
What if your “one day” started on day one?
“Don't count the days, make the days count”
Yesterday was my first day at a new job. This was a timely read! Thanks Aaron!
