How’s your Saturday going?
I finished mowing the yard right before the rain started. 🏁🙏
Then had dinner with friends.
Now I’m listening to Nightmares on Wax and sending you the recap of daily Power Acronyms I started 22 days ago.
Here’s today’s: P.R.I.D.E.
Here’s a link to 1-7 and 8-14. Follow along as I post them each day on your social platform of choice.
If you’d like to dive deeper on the philosophy and science that support each Power Acronym, download Heroic for free here and follow the links at the bottom of each entry.
If you have an acronym you think I should add to this growing collection, please let me know!

Power Acronym 15: Raise the B.A.R.
If you're in East Texas you're no stranger to pump jacks working to extract oil from the wells deep below the earth.
All the value is under the surface.
We too have the power we need to raise from within ourselves.
Raising our awareness about how we Believe, the Actions we take, and the Results we're getting or desire is important for personal and professional growth.
We must also raise how we Believe about our own potential, the actions that we are capable of when we do, and the results that are just beyond our comfort zone we can actually have if we commit and follow through.
Raise the B.A.R on
Your Belief
Your Actions
Your Results

Power Acronym 16: O.O.O.
Here's a 60-second breakdown from last week’s Letters to Leadership series, O.O.O., the latest in the series of three-part initialisms where I'm exploring the principles I’m focusing on practicing as I grow as a leader.
Ownership: Taking full responsibility for the results or lack thereof in life and work.
Optimize: Incrementally compound gains in the areas that matter most.
Open-minded: Being open to new ideas, knowing that 1 idea can serve as that breakthrough that really gets the flywheel moving.
Thank you! 💪🙏⚡

Power Acronym 17: S.S.S.S.
As I created the video I discovered 4 V's that run parallel to this powerful frame I learned from master coach @richard.dolan.
Say it - Verbalize what you want
See it - Visualize it, make it concrete through a model
Seed it - Volition - take the action that will germinate into more
Stretch it - Volcanic - shake the Earth with the scale to which you can grow 🌋
I’m having fun with this process and look forward to expounding on each acronym in longer videos in the future.

Power Acronym 18: S.O.S.
Ever faced the Same Old Shit?💩
Same shit, different day when it comes to work or relationships?
I definitely have.
But in those moments I try to remove myself from the swirl of negative toilet bowl thinking by shifting how I approach the S.O.S. I'm sitting with.
If you're facing S.O.S., see if this helps:
Stand up - find the agency and power you have to make change and commit to it.
create Order - the littlest things can make the biggest difference. Clean your room (a la Jordan Peterson)
Serve others - amazing things happen when we stop stewing on ourselves and start serving others in a greater way.

Power Acronym 19: D.W.Y.S.Y.W.D.
As we've discovered in past Power Acronyms, the words we use hold power so it is wise to examine what we say, especially when it comes to taking action.
Today's Power Acronym is all about Integrity.
In fact, it's essentially the definition of it:
Do What You Say You Will Do
It starts with ourselves because if we can't trust the commitments we make to ourselves, it will be even harder to find the confidence to make commitments to others.
The true test exists in how we respond when routines are interrupted, plans change, and honoring the commitment becomes more difficult in practice than it seemed in theory.
The value of integrity becomes evident by staying true to your word despite adversity and resistance.
Let the fire refine you. 🔥

Power Acronym 20: G.R.I.N.D.
Get Ready, It's a New Day! 🌞
A powerful reminder that we can leave tomorrow in the past, get present to the moment and create the future.
The great thing is that we don't have to wait for the next sunrise to reset our 24 hours.
We can make the commitment to create a new day at a moments notice. We all have the same 24 hours but we never know when that clock will stop.
So make the moments count!

Power Acronym 21: L.E.A.D.E.R.S.H.I.P.
This is the first Power Acronym I didn't speak directly to the camera. Instead I edited photos and videos together I have on my phone I believed were examples of these principles in different ways.
I’m focusing a lot on the topic of Leadership recently, so I felt it was time to revisit this Power Acronym. I’m currently reading Maxwell’s 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell.
The Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church I grew up in has a book that chronicles the church’s history. One of the early church group members created this acronym as a guide for leadership.

Listen now (35 min) | I’ve been filled with thoughts about Leadership the past week. It began with our PDQ America lunch & learn where we hosted Scott Brown, an executive director with John Maxwell. In this episode, I share some of the notes that I got from that one-hour talk. Powerful stuff! I invite you to reflect on the question that was asked of us:
Thank you for your continued support!
