Acronyms for Potential, Results, Self Talk, Acceptance, Sales, and Service
Power Acronyms 8-14 - 87 days until 101
If you missed last week's post about what I'm up to with acronyms, read it here.
We’re two officially two weeks in on these, and it’s been super fun to engage with family and friends about these and see how these ideas echo throughout the internet.
If you’d like to follow me on any social channels to watch them as I post them, click here.
As promised, I’m sharing the Power Acronyms from the past week here with added value connected to each idea through the Heroic app so you can dive deeper into the subject.
Enjoy!
Power Acronym 8: P.A.R.B.
We have the masterful coach Richard Dolan to thank for this Power Acronym that is all about our internal operating system, mental attitude, the way we speak to ourselves, and the environments we place ourselves in.
As always, Strong Communication + Strong Community = Stronger Company (the business we're building or the company we keep) is what I’ve been about for a long time!
P.A.R.B. is a flywheel that can be positive or negative.
Potential ➡️ Action ➡️ Results ➡️ Belief
1. Know your target and understand who you must become to hit it
2. Stay curious and take inventory of what works and does not work when taking action to reach it.
3. Track your results and make changes where it's necessary
4. Replay the highlights of your wins to reinforce and fuel your potential as you spiral up.
P.A.R.B.

How to Awaken Your True Potential - Philosopher’s Note
“The subconscious mind is like a parrot and repeats whatever we tell it. Instead of suggesting to the mind fatigue, complaints, and troubled thoughts, suggest joy, opulence, and peace, and these things will manifest in your life. Work willingly and untiringly; feel the eternal energy flowing in you ceaselessly. Never suggest tiredness or fatigue. Never say, ‘I’m tired.’” - Paramahansa Yogananda
Power Acronym 9: P.B.S.
This one is courtesy of mental performance coach Brian Cain, who’s coached UFC fighters like George St. Pierre, MLB Cy Young Award Winners, NFL Rookie of the Year Kyler Murray, and many more across a variety of professional and college sports and other high-performance disciplines.
I first heard about him through the Heroic community because he regularly uses what’s taught in the Heroic Coach program I completed in March with his clients. It’s really cool to learn how he applies this work at such a high level.
P.B.S. is a stellar way to remember 3 important ways to get our mind right when we're about to do anything, especially if the stakes are high.
POSTURE - how we carry ourselves physically contributes a lot to how we feel. Stand/sit straight.
BREATH - the tool that we take for granted that isn't just under our nose, it is our nose! Intentional breathing helps us activate the parasympathetic which lowers heart rate and can align us to the present moment
SELF-TALK - the words we use matter, especially when we talk to ourselves. The values we want to embody and hold dear, the strong identity we set for ourselves are great ways to start speaking victory into our own life.
Use P.B.S. today and tell me how you feel!

What to Say When You Talk To Yourself by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. - Philosopher’s Note
“Self-Talk gives each of us a way to change what we would like to change, even if we haven’t been able to do so in the past. It offers us a chance to stop being the old self and start to become a different, better self, a self which is no longer the product of conditioned response, but governed instead by personal choice.” - Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D.
Power Acronym 10: R.O.G.E.R.
In the video above, I had just completed my first (modified) Murph.
Didn't hit the exact targets but wearing a 20lb vest puts a whole different perspective on those who fight for our freedom. Honor to the fallen.
This Memorial Day I thought I'd channel my inner David Goggins and share this acronym from his book "Never Finished" R.O.G.E.R.
Received.
Order
Given.
Expect
Results.
Take that challenge, that obstacle, that storm, that opportunity, and completely Receive it. Take it as an Order and tell yourself to Expect the RESULTS life is asking from you.
You've got what it takes.
Unleash your inner Savage! 💪

Never Finished by David Goggins - Philosopher’s Note
“Remember, your greatness is not tied to any outcome. It is found in the valiance of the attempt.” - David Goggins
Power Acronym 11: W.O.L.F.
We have John Grubbs to thank for this powerful framework for sales.
My sales team and I are currently making our way through his Wolf Sales Training curriculum, and it’s full of excellent insight.
Here’s the framework:
WHO - the hunt - there's a person on the other side of everything you want
OBSERVE - the stalk - understanding the best way to approach your prospect
LISTEN - the attack - great sales professionals attack with their ears not their mouth, engage and discover the prospects problem to deliver the right solution
FINISH - the kill - once you've done the previous three the close is the logical next step.
Time to get back to work! 🐺

Staring Down the Wolf by Mark Divine - Philosopher’s Note
“To end separation from others, we must first end it in ourselves. We must stare down the fear wolf, wake up to our innate goodness and connection to one another, and reach the integrated fifth plateau of development. So, yeah, the fate of humanity does depend upon you. And me. The way to global wholeness is to first become whole ourselves.” - Mark Divine
Power Acronym 12: A.N.T.s
ANTs bite and they pop up everywhere, especially in the summer.
Kill one pile, another starts to form just a few feet away.
This is also true for Automated Negative Talk.
How can we respond without falling into victimville?
with Targeted Thinking 🎯
Positive thinking can help but it isn't enough.
Targeted Thinking is a Heroic tool that I use on a regular basis when I face a problem.
It’s an excellent way to interrupt the pattern of A.N.T. as well.
Try Targeted Thinking:
1) Fully Accept Reality - Everything it is and everything it isn't.
then ask yourself:
1) What do I want? Get CLEAR
2) Now what must be done? Take BOLD ACTION
That's how you battle A.N.T.s!

It Takes what it Takes by Trevor Moawad - Philosopher’s Note
“It’s what you do, not how you feel, that gets things done. We can do our way into feeling the way we need to. It’s hard to feel our way into achieving a damn thing.” - Trevor Moawad
Power Acronym 13: P.U.H.
This wisdom comes from Phil Stutz, Jonah Hill's therapist and subject of the movie Stutz - I highly recommend it!
Phil Stutz also happens to coach Brian Johnson, who founded Heroic.
But what does P.U.H. mean?
Pain Uncertainty and Hard Work!
Phil's reminder is that we will never be exonerated from these facts of life.
It will contain pain, times of uncertainty, and require lots of hard work, in every area of life.
Funny story: I got this Heroic hat a day ago and in the first hour I was wearing it, a bird pooed on it!
Great! 🙃
My response?
P.U.H.
It applies to small things like my hat or big things like our work or relationships or our physical health...we all have varying degrees of P.U.H. we must navigate.
It's all in how we respond.
This is why it’s important to have tools and resources that can aid us in the response.
Because we CAN become stronger when we face the P.U.H. with courage and bold action.
If you'd like to continue this conversation send me a message.
Plus, the Heroic community is having a Stutz documentary watch party on Sunday 6/4 at 1:01pm, with an interview between Brian and Phil to follow. It'll be awesome! If you'd like to join, let me know.

The Tools by Phil Stutz and Barry Michels - Philosopher’s Note
“Instead of seeing problems as an expression of a 'condition' whose cause was in the past, we needed to see them as catalysts for developing forces that were already present, lying dormant inside us.” - Phil Stutz & Barry Michels
Power Acronym 14: S.M.I.L.E.
😁
It's easy to smile on a Friday.
But smiling THROUGHOUT the workweek definitely helps make the days count (instead of just counting the days).
This is Palm Beach Tan’s customer service philosophy, but it works for approaching life outside of work too.
S.how up with a positive attitude
M.ake the customer's day
I.mprove daily
L.isten to the customers needs
E.njoy your work!
Even if you feel the work you do right now isn't completely aligned with what you feel called to, S.M.I.L.E.-ing is foundational wisdom to have any success in life - best part of all?
YOU are in control every step of the way.

Happier by Tal-Ben Shahar - Philosopher’s Note
“Helping oneself and helping others are inextricably intertwined: the more we help others, the happier we become, and the happier we become, the more inclined we are to help others.” - Tal Ben-Shahar
