Have you ever wondered how a game is made?
There’s something about board games and card games in particular that are fascinating to me. The creativity and engineering it takes to make something intriguing, easy to learn, and fun to play again and again is a mastery of art and science.
A quick look at what it takes to make a game will make you realize how many things need to be right to make it work.
As many adolescent boys do, I played a lot of video games as a kid. I wasn’t talented at sports but could find my way around virtual puzzles and lose myself exploring the stories.
With less time and more responsibility, my game systems are currently stored in a box in a closet but that doesn’t mean I’m not engaging in conflict, furthering the story, receiving feedback, working to master the controls, and fine-tuning my strategy.
