Enthusiasm is the force that powers the four former life lessons, 24. Dedication 25. Relationship, 26. Integrity, and 27. Volition which together is a Power Acronym I call DRIVE.
If you've read anything I've written you've likely heard me talk about it before. (I'm enthusiastic about it đ)
In no way am I claiming to have mastered these life lessons, but I am committed to developing my understanding of them while creating evidence of them in my deeds.
Anyway, back to the subject of the day: Enthusiasm
Here's a quick look at how it may have shown itself in your life recently:
What did you get for Christmas? đ
You probably have at least one gift you received that says something about what you are enthusiastic about.
Enthusiasm goes further than just interests, though. It has ancient roots:
En-theos in Greek means âGod withinâ or âdivine inspirationâ.
Enthusiasm is also our creative energy at work. When we are enthused, we see possibility and can chart new paths.
Today I finished Ryan Holiday's latest book, Discipline is Destiny. It is part of his series on the cardinal virtues of Stoicism, with this one focused on temperance.
In one chapter called âSlow downâŚto go fasterâ Ryan highlights the importance of having âdisciplined pacingâ.
Enthusiasm and excitement are closely connected, but enthusiasm isn't about speed, it's about having the right energy in the right places for the right amount of time.
The tortoise and the hare come to mind. đ˘đ°
Was the tortoise any less enthused about the race? He challenged the hare!
He knew âThe race is not always to the swiftâ.
What are you enthusiastic about going into 2023?
What has your interest? What do you enjoy? How will you make it more a part of your life?
