When I decided to write and publish 33 life lessons over 33 days leading up to my 33rd birthday, it was a light bulb moment of “oh, that would be cool/fun!” that inspired me to take the leap.
I had just drafted 33 prompts, so that gave me some sort of window at the road ahead, but as I continue to knock them down, I’ve had to pivot. I have not followed a linear path to completing each. Life Lesson 18 and 19 were not on the original list. Life Lessons at the front of the list moved a few spots down. Some of the ideas aren’t as strong as I had originally thought.
Level Up is brand new. I provide this context because, despite writing in 30-day sprints multiple times in the past, I’ve never written like this.
The crux of Level Up is that today’s challenge is not yesterday’s challenge.
Even if the problem to be solved is the same…
Move freight from point A to B
Be a great husband
Take care of the pets
Keep the house clean
Stay fit
Love your neighbor
(Fill in your own daily responsibilities / commitments)
Today doesn’t care if/when/how you paid your dues yesterday.
Today is what matters. It’s all that matters.
I’ve learned and am still learning what it means to not only show up, but level up to what today is asking of me. How I answer the question determines who I am to myself, to others, and life itself.
So, what does it mean to Level Up?
It means to answer the call, to be 1% better, to not take L’s as Losses but as Learnings, to remember the ultimate game is not to win, but to play with all your mind, body, and spirit.
